Feeding Birds / Vogels voederen

Since the birds in this country are not used to much snow and ice, the government has asked us to feed them. I think this is probably the hardest winter for them in many years. It’s freezing a lot and almost every week there is snow. I have put some seed containers in the tree in front of our house and our neighbour hanged some apples in it as well. It gave me the chance to make these great pictures. I hope any of you can tell me the name of the first bird, because I don’t have a clue:-)

Update thanks to Dineke’s husband:  It’s a “Kramsvogel”, at least that’s the dutch word for it. Don’t know the english translation.

Update 2: In english it’s called a Fieldfare. Thank you Dineke and Sue.

Carla, I think the bird is part of the sparrow family. We also feed the birds in the winter. We have sparrows, blue jays, cardinal and some I’m not sure what they are It’s such a joy to look out the window and have all different kinds of birds eating from the feeder.

My godmother who lives in Amstelveen feeds the birds on her balcony all the time so I’m sure she is making sure they are fed now! I live in Arizona and I have bird feeders year round outide my home office window. Love watching them! Thanks for taking care of them!

  8. Wow! I love the pictures it looks like you can reach out and touch them. I don’t know the names of any of the birds but I love feeding the birds and they bring a lot of pleasure when we sit out on our deck and relax. Thank you for feeding God’s creation.

Mooi gezicht he? Maar het is ook echt nodig nu!

    Groetjes Gerda
